Watched the first class today. I went to facebook and typed in library to see what I would get. When I opened NYPL, I noticed they use FB to announce and event, promote their other social media sites and promote books and reading in general.
I viewed the Cincinnati library FB page. In addition to the above, they were asking patrons to share heartwarming library stories. They also posted tidbits (trivia) to encourage circulation of certain books.
Cozard was promoting events at the library and in the community. Custer showed new arrivals. Sully listed library closures, requests for purchases and request for items they utilize in the library.
We usually use FB to promote library activities and events. I liked seeing the libraries that promoted ebooks. We need to look into getting those links on our FB page as well.
Rhonda
Hey, Rhonda. Good job. I never thought about encouraging folks to request purchases through my Facebook page. We still do it the old pen and paper way.
ReplyDeleteRhonda, I agree with your comment about adding links in Facebook to highlight ebooks and other services. Sturgis did that, and I commented on that on my blog. Although I have made individual posts about some of the services available, I hadn't thought to link them directly to my Facebook page.
